THE Y IS COMMITTED TO WATER SAFETY FOR ALL
At the Y, we believe a child’s safety in and around water should never be left to chance. Drowning is the number one cause of accidental death in children under age 5 and the second leading cause for children under 14. Learning to swim is the best way to prevent drowning. Teaching children how to be safe around water is not a luxury; it is a necessity.
Drowning can happen nearly anywhere with standing water. But, as a parent or caregiver, you can’t keep your children sidelined. You need to equip them with the tools they need to be confident in and around water so they don’t lose out on the health benefits of exercise, the opportunities to bond with family and friends and the sense of accomplishment when they learn new skills.
STRONG SWIMMERS, CONFIDENT KIDS
At the Y, we take pride in teaching the ins and outs of learning to swim. All participants will be sure to build more and more confidence with each and every stroke! This swim lesson curriculum will help bridge the gap between learning to swim and water safety. Parents can also use our Lesson Selector to easily determine stage placement for where their child will start. Also, each child gets to take a photo on our Achievement Banner after passing their session!
