ENGAGING WITH FAMILIES AND OUR COMMUNITY
At the Y, we believe that family and community are essential to our programs and a big part in everything we do. We offer various family or special events throughout the year, family programs including adventure guides, community classes, partnerships, collaborations and more.
Family time at the Y is about giving families as a unit, and as individuals, the opportunities to deepen relationships, develop new skills and interests, improve their health and well-being, and connect to the community. The Y has always been a place where families can play and be active together, and that’s more important than ever. Whether the activities are physical like sports or exercise classes, or more recreational like swimming, camping, cooking and arts, we want families doing them together because you’ll live healthier and make memories for a lifetime.

The Adventure Guides Program launches parents and their children on a journey of discovery, with the child as the explorer and the parent as the guide. Adventure Guides encourages parents to get to know your kid while your kid is still a kid with group activities such as games, crafts, songs, stories, skits, ceremonies, and outdoor pursuits such as camping, hiking and swimming. The one-on-one time in a fun, special environment builds important bonds through shared experiences.

Annual COLOR RUN 2017 5K and 1 Mile Fun Run
The Color Run is a 5K and 1 Mile Fun Run Fundraiser including family friendly activities, explosions of crazy colors at every corner, and an amazing opportunity to better our community. The purpose is to provide access to more people in the community for YMCA programs and services they need, to better improve lives. The proceeds of this event will go solely to our YMCA’s Annual Campaign, allowing the Y to make sure their doors are open to all. Together, we can create a better us.
JOIN US IN GIVING BACK
Togetherhood invites Y members to activate their social responsibility by participating in the Y’s cause to strengthen community. Togetherhood provides Y members with fun, convenient and rewarding ways to give back and support their neighbors.
The program is run through individual Y branches as a partnership between a committee of members and a Y Staff Advisor. Commitee members will plan community projects with other amazing community organizations throughout the year, and will help recruit volunteers to do those hands-on projects. Examples of projects could include serving meals to the homeless, organizing clothes for children in need, or planting plants at a community garden.
It is designed to be a simple, fun and rewarding way for members to identify ways that they can give back and support their neighbors through their own ideas, skills and energy, and the network of the Y.
Get involved! We need committee members to help plan projects as well as one-time volunteers to give just a few hours of their time at a specific volunteer event or project.
