This course teaches the skills and knowledge needed to prevent and respond to aquatic emergencies. Courses include First Aid, AED training, Water Rescue Skills, and CPR for the professional rescuer. After successful completion of the course, the individual will be a certified lifeguard and can apply for employment at the YMCA!

Complete Course: $225

  • Pocket Mask is included in the price.

Re-Certification Course: $110

Refund Policy:

  • 15% of the program fee is non-refundable should the registration be canceled by the registrant before the pre-work is assigned.
    • Once pre-work is assigned, there will be no refunds if pre-work and prerequisites are incomplete.

Other Info To Know:

For the Complete Course

  • 7 hours of online pre-work must be completed before the first in-person session.
  • Participants who do not complete the Prerequisite swim skills before the first in-person session will do so at the beginning of the first session.
  • ALL online pre-work and prerequisites (Swim-Tread-Swim Sequence and Timed Event) MUST be completed satisfactorily prior to continuing the course.

For the Recertification Courses

  • Recertification participants must have CPR masks to participate in the course. CPR masks are available for purchase at the front desk.
  • There will be a maximum of 10 participants per instructor in each class, first come, first serve.
